Yo, Yo, Yo and spit a wee bit cup of co-co!! What's up Racas (Matthew 5)!  I apologize for me not updating in what?...8 or 9 months?  That's a little bit horrendous but that's when you get hit by a big pot of L-I-F-E.  Let's begin....

The Lorax:  Wow!  What a great movie.  Not only optically entertaining but a couple times I was laughing so hard that I was crying.  Not to mention the great.."let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and die"  Definitely worth the trip to the threatres.

Graduation:  On May 11, 2012, I, Kate Elizabeth Jones will be joining the ranks of great Aggies that have gone on before me and walk across the stage with a Bachelor of Arts in History and English.  Two months more to go!!! I'm stoked.  Senioritus--the full effect has not set in yet, but around April I assume it will hit pretty hard.

Disneyland:  This Spring Break I am heading to Disneyland with my best friend Niccole.  We always wanted to take our college senior trip together so we decided to do it over Spring Break so it wouldn't interfere with summer plans.  Honestly, I can't remember the last time I had a vacation so I am very ready for a  fun relaxing time away from reality.  Let's just be honest...Disneyland is still the most magical place on Earth (except maybe Hogwarts)

The last time I was at Disneyland I looked like this.............

Yo ho, Yo ho, A Pirates Life for Me..........

Friendship:  I have been very thanksful for my friend as of late.  Not that I haven't always but these days their friendship to me has been exuberantly treasured and I love them all.  To reflect my sentiments I have found an excerpt from my favorite poet:  Henry Wadworth Longfellow.
Long, Long afterward in an oak,
I found the arrow still unbroke,
And the song from begining to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Loving the Song:  "Marry Me" by Martina McBride and Pat Monaghaun from Train.  Such a good song and why havent' they done a duet, before?  Their musicial chemistry is fantastic.

VideoThis week's video is Soft Kitty by the Big Bang Theory.  Sooooo great!

Wait...I liedWe have two videos this week. Usually I just post one but I couldn't help myself on this next one:  The Peter Panda Dance.  I want to do this for my kids one day :-)

Happy Quote"Every great dream begins with a dreamer.  Always remember, you have the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."---Harriet Tubman

SmashThis awesome new show starring Jack Davenport (Commodore Norrington) and Katharine McPhee from American Idol.  It's only the fourth episode and I'm addicted.  Go check it out!

Once Upon a TimeThink you know everything there is to know about the fairytales? Well think again! Yes, that's right! I called you out.  Do yourself a favor and watch a couple of episodes.  Truly fantastic.

At this moment, I am watching Big Bang Theory and eating delicious chocolate/peanut butter croisants that my roomate(Bec-Becca-Becca-Becca) made.

Until next time! Stay happy my friends.  Win Win!!! Love, Kate Jones!

Hello Everyone!  Greetings.  Gute Nacht.  This will be a good post tonight.  Have you ever imagined yourself in a writing mood?  For example:  whenever I am in deep writing or really whenever I post to this blog I imagine myself in a study sitting at a big Victorian style desk with shelves of books all around me.  Perhaps George Strait or Phantom of the Opera playing softly in the background, and you can't forget the glass of defined Cherry Coke next to my writing utensils.  Okay enough with my imagination....

Harry Potter:  The end finally came!  I know that many of us were at the midnight premiere and texted all our friends at 3am in the morning, because everyone was obviously up at that time.  I was!  Overall, I was very impressed with the style of the movie especially the music and to attest to that I went out and bought the soundtrack as soon as the movie was over.  There were minor things I was irked about but other than that I was very pleased.  I absolutely loved Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape in this film.  Phenomonal!  I cried so hard during the scene where Severus dies and then following his memories.  Absolutely beautiful.  I would like very much to see an Oscar nomination around the corner.

WeddingI went up to Dallas to see my good friends Erica and Roland Cupiaoli get married.  It was such a fun and memorable weekend.  The venue was beautiful, the bride radiant, and the fun at the reception was shooting off the scale.  Congraulations!  May they share a wonderful life together.

Video:  Our video for this week is absolutely hilarious.  I love the Harvard Sailing team.  Check out their video Truth or Dare.

Date Night:  I had date night with myself tonight.  On Facebook I noticed that a lot of people had date night tonight.  Share your enchanting evening!  Did anyone have a double date?  I heard those can be either incredibly awkward or extremely fun.  Anyone have an extremely fun double date?

Loving the Song"Far Away" by Nickelback.  It is a terrific romantic song that can pull you several different ways all at the same time.  For my friend, Minni,  she can easily listen to this song 14 times in a row...and I know because I was right beside her listening to it! Ha.

Poetry:  Poetry.  A curious subject.  You either hate it or you love it.  Did you know I write poetry?  I even got published once.  How do you feel about poetry?  For me, Shakespearean poems give me a great sense of feeling and inspiration.  For those Elizabethian literary haters I shall not pressure you long about the delights of William, but I shall leave you with this:
So, either by thy picture, or my love
Thyself away art present still with thee,
For thou not farther than my thoughts canst move
And I am still with them, and they with thee,
Or, if they sleep, thy picture in thy sight
Awakes my heart to heart's and eyes delight.--Sonnet 47

Happy Quote "As I go through all kinds of feelings and experiences in my journey through life -- delight, surprise, chagrin, dismay -- I hold this question as a guiding light: "What do I really need right now to be happy?" What I come to over and over again is that only qualities as vast and deep as love, connection and kindness will really make me happy in any sort of enduring way." ---Sharon Salzberg

At this moment:  I am organizing my room and watching NCIS Season 4 :-)

Until next time! Think happy my friends. Win Win!!!  Love, Kate J  :-)

July 11, 2011

Hello Everyone!  It has been a long time since I have updated, but I largely blame that on the server that the blog is on because there has been a lot of construction and we have encountered gliches for awhile.  But Iiiiiiiiiiimmm baaaaaaaacckkk (for all you Poltergeist fans).

The Food Network:  I have been watching a lot of the food network this summer.  Mostly because there is nothing else much on except for a smattering of Spongebob and the occasional FOX movie or reruns of CSI, NCIS, or Criminal Minds.  I am quite captivated with it.  I still can't stand Anthony Bourdain!!! However, Guy is hilarious and a realistic cook/ host on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  Learning a lot of recipes and now I am addicted to the show Chopped about competing for the best dishes...its so intense!  You mock me but it quickly gets addicting.

Mr. Jim's Pizza:  My sister works at Mr. Jim's Pizza near our house and tonight she surprised us by having my favorite pizza delivered to our front door.  It was delightful!  It was piping hot and the half sausage-half pepperoni wheel of wonderfulness was eaten with a smile on my face.

Music Video:  This blog's video is Nick Petra's, "One Man Disney Song" .  This video is for any Disney fan and his talents are extraordinary.

Harry Potter:  This week is it folks!  The opening of Deathly Hallows Part 2 in theathres smackered all over the United States will be people of all ages anxiously confronting the heat, long lines, and the early morning hours just to see their favourite characters defeat the Dark Lord.  This movie has been a decade in the making and this film is for everyone, like myself, who saw magic on the big screen or through words on a page were able to delve themselves into the imagination of another world and found joy, love, mystery, drama, inspiration, laughter, sadness, and above all an adventure to make their own.  J.K. Rowling summed it up pretty good when she said, "Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”--London premiere.  I couldn't have said it better, Jo. Thank you for filling our lives full of the wonderful world of Harry Potter.

Best Friends:  My best friend, Niccole, is coming from Arizona this week to see the Potter premiere with me. I am completely stoked!  It is a miracle if we get to see each other and I am really going to cherish the couple of days she gets to spend with me.  We have been best friends for 14 years, and I know that all of you who have that special friendship with someone know what these moments mean to you

You've Got Mail:  Mum and I watched that movie tonight--one of our favourites!  It really is one of the best well made romantic comedy from the 90's.  The essence of the movie is adorable.  Ever been like Meg Ryan wishing the dial-up would hurry so you could hear just three little words?  Or been like Tom Hanks and spend great amounts of time agonizing over every word for the perfect response?  It happens to everyone. I love getting personalized emails :-)

Embarassing Moments:  I had my earphones on today while I was unloading the dishwasher and belting out to the best of my ability "Bad Romance" from the collection Lady Gaga.  After the song was over, I heard laughing and turned around to see my dad dying of laughter.  Definitely embarassing!

Loving the Song"Don't Forget to Remember Me." by Carrie Underwood.  Just discovered it on youtube and it reminded me of my mum when she sent me off to college.  Very touching!  It's always nice to listen to a song that magnifies the special relationship between parents and their children.  Seems like a lot of times these days it gets brushed aside or is concerned with negative situations.  I love my parents!

Happy Quote:  "I'm a pacificst so I don't believe in war. But when the revolution comes I will destroy you all!"--Phoebe from Friends  :-)

At This Moment:  I am about to drop from exhaustion and get a little shut eye but wanted to upload this first for all my faithful readers.

Until next time! Think happy my friends. Win Win!!!  Love, Kate J  :-)

Thursday May 12, 2011

Yo, Yo, Yo and a little Yo-Yo thrown in there for good measure....

Rain:  Here in College Station, Texas we have a lot to be celebrating this morning as we have been through a bad drought, and it has not stopped raining since 5am this morning. Yes! Hopefully this delightful rain will come with some cool weather to sprinkle throughout the valley.  Sleeping in the rain is so relaxing!

School:  Finals are over! It is funny that the day after finals are over it finally decids to rain...coincidence? I think not! It is like the scene in Holes where it finally rains after the bad guys have been arrested. The one part I do like about finals is that some of the craziest, funniest, and funnest times I have with friends is during this time.  We are all sleep deprived, agrivated, and just ready to call it a year but we always find great times to be together.

Goodbyes:  I am saying goodbye this semester to many of my beloved friends who are graduating and moving on from the Aggie system (can we do that???).  However, this blog has challenged me to think positively so while thinking about how I could turn this into happiness...it came to me:  I have friends to say goodbye to!!!  The reason it makes me so sad is because I have developed meaningful relationships with these people who I have come to respect, love, and adore.  I am so blessed to have been a part of their lives! We've shared many things:  hard times, teary time, happy times, laughing so hard you are crying times, movie times, chicken times, and times when we just sat back and talked.  You can't do that with everyone, you know.  To my friends who are leaving know that I will be thinking about you often and even though we may be sad now--all that means is that we are care very much about each other.  Some people won't have the same wonderful experience that I have had in the social aspect so the fact that I GET to say goodbye to you all just means I have been blessed beyond measure.  I wish you luck!  Gig'em!!

Cheesecake:  So a couple of us decided to have a girls night out on the town Tuesday night.  We decided to venture to Cheesecake Factory and indoctrinate those who had not been yet.  It was delicious! I had the Reeses Peanut Butter Cheesecake...delicious! And for those who have seen the Harvard Sailing Team video of boys acting like girls:  I ate two chocolate cheesecakes! Fat!  Then we decided to venture to our beloved store of Barnes and Noble where we took many pictures and cantered down the isles of knowledge.  We got kind of creative...

Graduate School:  I've been accepted to the Texas A&M History Graduate program, and I am very excited.  This morning I was able to see where my office was and I even get my name on the door. Holla!  Next year I am going to walk into a classroom as, "Professor Kate Jones"...kind of weird, but it shows that I'm a nerd because just hearing that makes me grin from ear to ear.

Fellowship:  This past month at church one of our good friend's dad died.  He struggled with cancer for a long time, and finally ended his suffering peacefully.  It was a hard time for all of us.  The reason I start out saying this is because we all were grieving.  That is why it is on this blog.  It was not our dad who died but we all felt the pain for our friend and his family.  We all reached out to our friend and his family, and I believe we all grew stronger because of it.  Now that is fellowship!  That is something you cannot buy with any amount of money and I am so thankful to be part of a group where we bond together like this.

Laynes:  Soo...a tradition we have Wednesday night after church is going to a little place we call Laynes.  All it serves is chicken fingers, toast, and fries.  Not the best assortment for your cholestoral levels, but you have to have a treat every now and then. It is a time to eat, laugh, talk, and sing Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of your lungs.  Well last night was our last one of the spring season and a record of 42 people showed up.  We took over the restaurant...here's what we looked like:  Winning!!!

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock:  It's very simple. Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and—as it always has—rock crushes scissors. (Big Bang Theory!!)

Loving the Song:  "I See the Light" from Tangled. What a beautiful song! ...and a great movie I probably watch it at least 2 times a week.  I'm not obsessed it is just a movie that makes me extremely happy.

Happy Quote:  "Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections"--Anonymous

At this moment:  I am about to go wake up my roomates to eat Little Ceasears, watch a chick flik (I'm thinking wedding planner), and drink Dr. Pepper. A time honored tradition in our house.

Until next time. Think happy my friends! Win Win!!!  Love, Kate J. :-)

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Hey everybody! A lot of things to be happy about in this post...

  • Harry PotterDeathly Hallows Part II trailer was released tonight and I think that my heart just stopped from excitement.  I know what I am doing July 14th at midnight!!!
  • Reeses:  Mum gave me a Reeses egg for Easter, and it literally saved my life today.
  • Laynes:  Wednesday night is filled with worshipping the Lord, and of course Laynes where my bestest of friends gather to laugh, eat, and share each other's company.  Winning!!!
  • Al Marx:  A Holocaust survivor who reminds me every day to be so thankful for the country that I live in, I don't have to live in fear, and that I can say goodnight to my parents every night.
  • Doctors:  The team of doctors at Memorial Herman in the Woodlands gave my friend enough time to say goodbye to the people she loved, and she didn't suffer.  I will miss her very much and I am so incredibly blessed to have been a part of my life while teaching me many things.
  • Deep Conversations:  Sometimes you have a random deep conversation and it is so intellectually stimulating.  But also bonds you closer together with the other person.  I had one tonight and quite enjoyed it.
  • Random Texts:  Ever got a random text message from somebody just saying hello, paid you a compliment, or just something wonderfully random they wanted to say to you?  I got one of those today and it felt really good :-)
  • Love Letters:  haha I haven't gotten one in awhile, but I just love the idea. And I think few things are more adorable than a man writing a love not to a girl if for nothing else than just to say he misses her.  If any guys are reading this...wink wink nudge nudge ;-)
  • Study Parties with Jane Wauson:  We have the best study parties ever complete with (usually country music) and lots lots lots lots and lots of laughter!
  • Wombats:  I love wombats!! They are so cute, fat, cuddly, and Australian!! I named this one Winston.

  • Loving the song "Are you gonna kiss me or not" by Thompson Square tonight.  Great song!
  • Happy Quote:  "I love talking to you, Kate.  It's like talking to a Harry Potter movie!"
  • At this moment, Jane is talking to herself and it is making me laugh hysterically!!
Until next time.  Think Happy thoughts my friends!  Win win!!!! Love, Kate J :-)

Monday, April 25, 2011

Hello Everyone! I've decided to post a happy blog.  Only about things that make me happy, I admire, or see something happy I want to share.  Someone suggested this as a mental exercise because if you have an objective to look at only happy things, then it is hard to be negative or sad.  So this is my baby project and to any who may be following thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing your thoughts, ideas, or things that make you happy.

Wondering about the title?  Well, I was considering doing something Harry Pottery because, Yes, I am that much of a nerd.  But then I recognized that not everyone likes Harry Potter (shocking I know!!) so I compromised.  I have always loved the fresh smell of books, or journals, and yes...parchment.  Hermonie lists fresh parchment as love potion signifier for her so boom:  compromise.

My first official things that make me happy blog list:

  • Watching Titanic with my mum:  It is our movie and we usually share a few tears, remarks about how we love the music, and chocolate in various forms
  • Hallmark movies:  Tonight was a new one, Beyond the Blackboard, about a ordinary woman who changed the lives of homeschool kids by simply caring.  Go watch it!
  • Luke Bryan's, "Country Man"video. So funny!
  • Easter supper with my sweet family including:  ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, homeade yeast rolls, cranberry sauce, and sundae's.  Sundae's on Sunday! Get it?!!
  • Laying my head down on a comfortable pillow and finding that perfect cold spot where you are just the most relaxed before going to bed.
  • Jamming out to music when taking my sisters to school:  I'm the #1 fan of Karly and Kassidy Jones. Love those girls!!!
  • The Ya-Yas:  Our group of 5 best friends going on almost 8 years now.  We found our inspiration for the group name from the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.  We've bonded through laughter, trials, Mountain Dew, being far apart, but mostly laughter.  Here's a photo of us crazy girls.
  • Happy Quote:  "Put a smile on your face...and make the world a better place!"--Random Song
What made you happy this past week? Feel free to share.
Until next time...peace we out! Love, Kate J.
